SPEI

SPEI (Sistema de Pagos Electrónicos Interbancarios) is an interbank electronic transfer system in Mexico, operated by the Bank of Mexico. Transfers are made between Mexican bank accounts using a CLABE number.

How do I set up a SPEI account?

A Mexican bank account is required. Your CLABE is an 18-digit number provided by your bank that identifies your account for interbank transfers.

How do I add SPEI as a payment method in Haveno?

  • Go to the top menu in Haveno and select Account.
  • Select Traditional Currency Accounts.
  • Click Add new account.
  • Select Mexico/SPEI.
  • Enter your CLABE and account holder name. The country and currency are set automatically.
  • Optionally set a custom account name to help you manage multiple accounts. This is visible only to you, for example: SPEI - MXN - Juan Pérez.
  • Click Save new account.

You can add a separate account for each bank account you hold. Make sure all details are correct before saving.

How do I buy XMR with my SPEI account?

You can buy XMR with SPEI in two ways:

  • Make an offer to buy XMR on the MXN market.
  • Take an offer to buy XMR on the MXN market.

When the trade begins, Haveno provides the XMR seller's CLABE and account details. Send the payment and confirm by clicking Payment sent. Once the seller confirms receipt, your security deposit and purchased XMR become available in your wallet.

Send payment only to the CLABE provided in the XMR seller's Haveno account.

How do I sell XMR with my SPEI account?

You can sell XMR with SPEI in two ways:

  • Make an offer to sell XMR on the MXN market.
  • Take an offer to sell XMR on the MXN market.

When the trade begins, Haveno provides your CLABE and account details to the XMR buyer. After you receive the payment, confirm by clicking Payment received. The buyer then receives their XMR and you receive your security deposit back.

Confirm that the payment is received from the account holder named in the XMR buyer's Haveno account.

Are there any limits for me to be aware of when using my SPEI account?

Limits depend on your bank and account type. Check the limits that apply to your account, since trades above them may need to be cancelled.

Are there any fees for me to be aware of when using my SPEI account?

Many banks offer SPEI transfers for free, though some may charge a fee. Check the current fees with your bank.

How does dispute resolution work when trading with SPEI?

If a dispute occurs, the arbitrator may ask the buyer to provide information showing that they paid the correct amount to the XMR seller within the correct time frame.

The arbitrator may ask the seller to provide information to prove their account details are correct, or to show whether a payment was late or of the wrong amount.
